Heaven Sent

I was feeling all angelic in this white number I wore on my last night out in Miami.  We went out for a very nice dinner, so I had to get the ensemble right.  As per usual, I was tight on time because we had a reservation, and you know, girls just take a while. Luckily, I already had this dress on hand and ready to go.  Slipped it on with some strappy sandals and a red lip and I was out. Minalistic but super chic. In a rare showing, I also pulled my hair back into a low pony.  This not only served to accentuate the neckline of the dress, creating a sleeker look, but was perfect in my time crunch.  Picture tip:  When wearing white, it's best to take the photos before dinner - I learned this the hard way. :)  Get into the details below and thanks for stopping by!

Hey, Let's Get Away

Been busy with life and all of the chaos of the world, but I'm finally getting a chance to blog some photos from my little getaway to Miami with the bf over the Fourth of July weekend.  It was crazy hot down there, like sweat drenched, hair frizzed, hopping around on the beach because the sand is too hot, hot.  Nonetheless, I had a great time, and the change of scenery was just what I needed. Checked out a nice local cuban spot, got in some beach time, had the south beach experience, and caught some casual nightlife in the Downtown/Brickell area.  Plus, I mean even when it's hot, you just can't beat an ocean breeze and a refreshing cocktail.  Check out a few snaps below and thanks for stopping by! Make sure to be kind to someone this week, it's always needed.

Started this outfit off with white converse and a denim shirt around the waist for comfortable travel, but both of those had to go in the disrespectful heat.

We ate at this place twice, and I felt like I gained a pound each time.  Totally worth it for casual dining (that's not ridiculously priced) with a fun atmosphere in South Beach.  Perfect for mornings after the party or late nights.

Fun night out in Brickell Village.  We tried out this place called Dolores, But You Can Call Me Lolita which had a such a gorgeous rooftop and amazing vibes.

Office Style : Pastel Party

I plan to start posting more of my office style on here.  Since I do spend most of my time at work, my office wear makes up the majority of my wardrobe.  I try to keep a lot of the pieces versatile.  For example this simple blouse can also be dressed down as seen in this previous post, but also pairs well with a pencil skirt.  Once I stock up on the versatile simple pieces, I usually throw in some sort of statement piece to make it pop like a printed skirt or pants with a pop of color.  I picked this skirt up a few years ago from New York & Company, and although it is a little big, it's still my go to when I want a pretty and feminine touch.  Blush pumps completed the look.  Get into the deets below! Hope you're having a wonderful week!

Shoulders and Ruffles

Off the shoulder is one of the hottest trends for summer. It's also a way to show some skin without putting the girls out there and give an often overlooked area some shine.  I've stocked up on a few off the shoulder tops and picked up this breezy frock from Express.  Loved how flowy it is. Looser silhouettes serve a few purposes: forgiving when you may have had too much for lunch (or all winter), great ventilation during the dog days of summer, and perfect for twirling (that may just be a perk for me). For curvier girls like me, loose styles can be tricky - sometimes creating tent-like silhouettes that can be less than flattering. It's typically wise to stay clear of styles that add "weight" to your profile, but I made an exception here. I was able to work with this style and will probably belt it when I feel like I need a more defined waist. To complete the look, I added my go to cage sandals for the season from Steve Madden.  This shoe style got its start with Schutz, and now almost every brand and store has a cheaper version - even Express and New York & Company have a version.  If you're looking for some less expensive alternatives, check them out, and get into the other outfit details below!

Lost and Found

These shoes got lost in my closet, and once I rediscovered them, I just had to wear them.  So when I took my sister out for a casual brunch a few weekends ago, I built my outfit around them.  My first thought was to find something in the yellow family; I knew that camel/yellow combo would pop. This lemony lime hued top was the closest I got. The jeans were are a simple addition, and then for a little contrast, I added a white linen blazer.  People think I like to wear blazers because of the extra polish they give which is partly true, but I really love how they cover up imperfections and slim you down. I mean chubby arms, back rolls, a little extra in the midsection - it covers it all! And in this case, it did just that plus tied everything together for a fresh spring look.  Get into the details below! Thanks for stopping by and I hope you're getting your fill of bbq this Memorial Day weekend - I'm sure planning to! (My next post may be how to pull off the elastic waistband - spoiler:  just wear a romper)

You Look So Much Better When You Smile

I am soooo behind in my posts, because, you know, life.  So, this is a quick post to get back on track. More content to come!

I. Love. Cobalt. Blue.  For some reason it just makes me feel all happy and "glowy."  So while I still had my curls, I decided to pair this ASOS dress with simple two strap black sandals.  A no fuss look, but the texture of the dress and peplum hem added interesting details, and the minimal styling kept the focus on the vibrant hue.  Oh, and since I was feeling "glowy" and cheesing all over the place in these pics, I count my smile as an added accessory.  The deck decided to be covered in pollen this day, and I almost skipped this post due to the less than pristine background, but hey, life's too short to waste good outfit pics on a little bit of nature's glitter.  :)

Get into the details below!  I hope your week is off to an amazing start!
