Bling Bling

What better way to end the year than with a little razzle dazzle?  You won't find too many sequined or embroidered pieces in my day to day wardrobe, but the holidays are different. Esssspecially NYE! This year I dedided to finally pull out this fabulous piece picked up during last year's after Christmas sales. Sad face sad face, it's no longer available; but I have linked a few similarly wonderful items.  For footwear, I decided to pull out the big guns (well the biggest guns I have) again.  These So Kates are gorgeous but were definitely made for 3 toed women.  On the plus size, they give you the legs of a goddess sooo, you know, tradeoffs. Completed the look with a simple cami, big curls, and a red lip. Just like that, I was ready to party like it was the first day of the rest of my life.

Thanks for stopping by! Wishing you a stylish and safe NYE!

Thigh High

During our latest cold snap, I decided to pull out my favorite over the knee boots.   Perfect option when you want to wear shorter hems and still be weather appropriate.  I decided to pair them with a simple sweater dress I picked up from NY & Company for just that reason.  Plus the dress is super cozy, and if you've followed my blog for a while, you'll know I'm a sucker for dresses and skirts with pockets.  For a little interesting twist, I layered on an oversized camo jacket from ac ouple of seasons ago.  With this rodset hair and street chic ensemble, I felt just beside myself.  I started dancing like I was in a music video for a couple of shots, but my sister quickly killed that dream.  In whatever you do, it's always important to have fun doing it, but I'll save ya'll the discomfort of  viewing my awkward hip hop poses.  Get into the details below, and as always, thanks for stopping by!  Wishing you good times and even better fashion this holiday season!

Plus 1

So, I finally got around to shooting some holiday looks (meaning my sister had some time to come over and my nephew had enough fruit snacks to occupy his time.)  For this look, I decided to (gasp) wear white after labor day.  I'm pretty sure no one still follows that rule, but I never understood it anyway.  White looks the BEST in winter to me - it just pops amongst the darker, cold weather back drops.  These pants were a pickup from Zara a few seasons ago.  High-waisted and wide-legged. What else could a girl want?  Both elongate the leg and the high waist covers that disrespectful Thanksgiving pudge.  I had to get them tailored since I'm not a European supermodel, and Zara doesn't exactly make pants for the average height curvy black girl with a short torso.  Don't be afraid to invest in a tailor for classic pieces my friends.  Those well-fitting staples will serve you well for many years to come. I wanted a streamlined look and kept the color palette simple, adding a white cami, tuxedo blazer, and black stillettos. Topped it off with a statement necklace and I was ready to plus 1!  What are your go to holiday pieces?  Be on the lookout for another holiday look coming soon!

Casual Transitions

This post is a simple illustration of elevating a casual outfit.  The same core pieces can be styled to fit your mood. For the casual look, I paired a simple sweatshirt with black skinnies, flat cutout booties, and a red lip. To kick it up a notch, I added a leather jacket (if you don't have one, catch one during all of these holiday sales, trust me you need it) and swapped out the booties for ones with a little more height and a pointed toe.  Same elements in both outfits, black and grey with leather cutout booties, but the jacket addes edge and the heels add a little more sexy. A few tweaks took the outfit from Saturday errands to Saturday night!  Pick your mood and then pick your accessories. Sounds so simple right?  Get into the details below and thanks for stopping by!
