Such A Lady

Tis the season for holiday parties, and for me, the most exciting part of going to a party is the opportunity to dress up.  Recently, I attended a holiday soiree for the local Atlanta chapter of Levo League, an organization focused on empowering women and providing a network to help elevate their careers.

For this occasion,  I decided to pull out a skirt I purchased from Express over a year ago that I never found a reason to wear.  I fell in love with the sheer insets of the skirt at the time and had to get it. And who doesn't love a full a-line skirt?  It was the perfect mix of a classic silhouette with a little sexy.  To make sure my skirt remained the focal point, I kept my top simple by adding a cute black cami.  I have fallen in love with these reversible camis from Express (currently on sale).  They are versatile yet classic and provide the perfect foundation for many of my outfits.  I also kept my accessories minimal (as per usual) and added my fave Hershey kiss necklace and a silver bracelet.  For shoes, I decided to step it up a notch with my So Kates.  These were definitely an investment for me, so I only wear them when the feeling moves me. No worries, though, as my specialty is affordable fashion (I love a good deal) and I don't think you have to break the bank to look good,  I have included a few more wallet friendly options below. All together, this outfit made me feel like such a lady! Hope you enjoy and thanks for stopping by!

Suit and Tie

I finally got around to posting this look! I was inspired by another blogger to try a "suited" look. (I say suited loosely as my look is actually a mix and match of separates). While perusing my closet, I found that, with a little creativity, I had all the items I needed to pull the outfit together.  I started with columnist ankle pants from Express which have been pretty heavy in my work rotation. Then, I added a white button up blouse and black blazer with tuxedo trim - both recently picked up from H&M.  For shoes, I decided to rock two texture black pumps from Zara. Now for the tie.  I own no ties (although now I want some), so this is where a little re-purposing came in.  I found a shirt dress in my closet with a black sash and thought, "why not?!"  With a little maneuvering, the sash turned in to a cute little neck tie.  And there you have it!  Get into this look as an alternative to traditional cocktail dresses for holiday parties.  Details below...

Mix & Match

So, I found a way to re-style two of my fave fall pieces.  This sleeveless trench provided the perfect amount of balance to the form fitting dress I paired it with.  To accessorize, I added d'orsay nude pumps, and styled the look both with and without my newest hat purchase.  I loved the color combo that came together here (especially since the wine color is currently heavy in my rotation.  See how I styled the trench previously here and the hat here.  Get into the deets below, and thanks for stopping by! Oh, and don't mind the change in scenery - the weather wasn't my friend that day.

Transitions

This is a late post of an outfit I wore right around the turn of the season.  The temps were cooling down, but I still wanted to incorporate something that reminded me of summer.  This navy blue and white wrap jacket met the bill.  Lightweight, with just enough coverage to keep me warm but with the look of summer nautical stripes.  I paired it with dark wash Express denim and tan pumps, and as per my style, kept the accessories minimal.  All together it created a quick and comfortable casual chic look.  Get into the details below!

Put It In Neutral

Neutrals can be a girl's best friend.  For my latest pairing, I decided to put together soft grays and pink under-toned nudes.  The colors provided a super feminine and light touch touch to my outfit, but were still appropriate for fall. This sweatshirt dress is one of my faves because it can be dressed up or down, and is comfortable but still sexy.  I kept my accessories minimal, and since I've invested in a few hats this season, decided to try one on for size.  I'm still mastering the art of rocking hats but it turned out pretty nice.  Check out outfit details below!  Until next time....
