The weather has been a little unpredictable lately, especially down here in the South. All these unexpected temp changes can foil the most thoughtful outfit plans. With this post, I wanted to show a little versatility to help in times like these. This look centers around a plaid shirt dress I picked up in the fall from H&M. These dresses can be tricky as the pattern and style could give you pajama realness pretty easily if not executed properly. This one is aided by a sash at the waist which provides waist definition and adds a detail often not included in the sleepwear equivalent. My original plan for this look paired the dress with suede over the knee boots. A nice look, but not optimal for really cold or much warmer weather. So, for colder times, I layered on my fave wool coat (see how I wore before here). In addition to its functionality, the coat added polish to the look, making it a little more interesting and a little dressier. For warmer weather, I lost the boots and the coat and added classic white Converse sneakers. This instantly created a much more casual and relaxed look. So no matter the weather or your mood, a cute shirt dress (not necessarily plaid) can be the perfect starting point. Hope this gives you some ideas and thanks for stopping by!
If you follow my blog, you may be able to tell that dresses make me happy. This one is no exception (and as an added plus, this one made my boyfriend happy too). As such, it was the perfect pick for Valentine's Day. The soft fabric, deep rouge color, and wrap design all added romantic touches, creating such a classically sexy silhouette. I picked this up a couple of years ago when Altuzarra partnered with Target, and I'm so glad I did. Paired with the sexy stiletto of So Kates, the look was just what I wanted - sexy yet sophisticated. Happy Valentine's Day and be sure to let somebody know you love them today - the world could use a little love. :)
